New Zune music software

This past week, the 2nd generation Zune devices were released, and with them a new version of the Zune client software. I've never really tried out a Zune, and Kim swears by her iPod, but I decided to check out the client software because a couple of people I work with were talking about using it, and I used to work with some of the folks who went on to work on it.

I installed it from here, and I've been using it to listen to music at work for the past week or so. It doesn't have any many in-depth features as Windows Media Player (which I was previously using), but then again, I don't really use those features for my pretty basic music listening scenarios. The UI looks really nice, and I like the idea of the Zune card that they introduced. For the Zune card, you go sign-up on this site, and then it creates an online "card" where you can keep track of what you listen to over time, and your friends can check it out too if you decide to let them.

Here is the Zune card I created - http://social.zune.net/member/Snacktacular

It used my Xbox Live gamer card for the display name by default. From what is on my Zune card currently, you can see I've been listening to a lot of Fall Out Boy recently (although Kim would probably say I've been listening to them more than just recently....)

In my defense, their music is pretty good, plus they named their band after a reference from the Simpsons and nobody who does that could be bad :-)
