We stayed at the Friday Harbor House, which overlooks the ferry dock and all of Friday Harbor. This is the view from our room:

On Monday, May 4th we took a 3 hour whale watching boat tour. On the way out to where the L Pod Orca whales were last reported seen that day, we passed by Spieden Island, it has a very unique history, click to read more about it.
Then we came across L Pod, one of the resident Orca whales pods who are frequent visitors of the Puget Sound. We saw large adult male whales (whose dorsal fin can get to 6 feet tall), female whales and little baby whales. The whale in the picture below was identified as Blackberry, an 18 year old adult male.

Here we are getting warm on the boat after seeing the whales.

On Tuesday, we checked out of our hotel and headed out to drive around exploring the island. We drove up to Roche Harbor, a cute little town at the very north end of the island.

Stopped at a sculpture park, outside Roche Harbor. Here is Aaron posing with one:

Lime Kiln Point Lighthouse (far west side of the island)

Then we drove back around to Friday Harbor to do some shopping before catching our ferry to Anacortes and drive home. The weather was nice (little chilly), we had a great time.
